Feasibility Study, 2026
Client: City of Flagstaff, Arizona
A Feasibility Study commissioned by the City of Flagstaff to explore potential options for re-location and adaptive re-use of the Historic May Hicks Curtis House.  Known as the “Betsy Ross” of Arizona, May Hicks Curtis sewed the first Arizona state flag in 1911 which is currently on display at the State Capital Museum.
The structure, identified as one of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, was acquired by the City of Flagstaff and as a last-resort strategy to prevent demolition.  In May of 2025, the structure was temporarily relocated to nearby City-owned property for storage until a suitable site and re-use strategy could be determined.
StudioLP4 assisted city staff in evaluating re-use strategies for the Historic Structure as Commercial Offices, Affordable Housing, and Restaurant/Hospitality uses.
