The Restoration of Historic Ashlar Hall, in Midtown Memphis, Tennessee, preserved one of the most unique and recognizable residential structures in the city. Originally constructed in 1896 as an ornate castle-inspired single family mansion, the structure was later adapted to commercial uses in the 1950s, including commercial restaurant and nightclub spaces through the 1990s. From 2001 until 2017, the structure was effectively abandoned, and experienced significant deterioration due to neglect.
In 2018, StudioLP4 collaborated with J. Hunter Fleming of Facture Design to restore, repair, and partially re-construct missing portions of the building's exterior envelope in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Upon completion in 2023, the rehabilitated structure once again serves as a gathering & event space.
